Should success be considered only when you become an entrepreneur?
I've seen many people around wanting to be a business owner. They desire and try to open a company and run it as a destination of being successful. I don't have the passion for owning a company, even I want it too. But beyond my personal characteristics, capability, property, ... I don't think I could be do it well. So for people who decide to become employee, like for the whole life, what should they do for planning their career path?

Hi Annia,
First of all, success is not only that we can find in economy. You can see it in all fields of life. In science, policy, army, education, etc,. Do you think Mr. Ngo Bao Chau who is a famous teacher in math with Fields Medal prize is successful person? or Ms. J. K. Rowling is British who wrote Harry Potter and or lot of other celebrities. So, when you achieve a goal you are successful not even to be a company owner.
Secondly, perhaps to be an entrepreneur is a fast popular way to success. When you become a company owner you have high chance to bring out your ability, your idea and you make your own decision. But it is not easy too.
Third, employee also could be success. It depend on your thinking what success is. Just try to answer who/what you want to become what major you would love to work and your goal. Then you build career base on those to heading your goal. Hopefully, you will success.

The root answer is from yourself and only you can know exactly through five Wh-questions: Who you want to be, What you want, Why you do, Where's your stand, When you feel satisfied. The last important question is: How you define "happiness" in your life.
But, I believe you will keep optimistic thought and continue making valuable things for society even though you are a boss, an employee or a president...

Vấn đề chỉ là: thế nào là thành công? tự mõi ng đều có 1 tập hợp những côt mốc cần đạt được để có thể tự cho là đã thành công. Trong đó có những cột mốc có thể phải hy sinh để đạt được cột mốc khác. Làm chủ chỉ là 1 phương tiện để đạt được một số cột mốc thôi và k0 phải ai cũng thành công. You've seen so many people running around wanting to be a businessman and considered it a path to succeed. That is very understandable because that type of people is also the type who are not hesitate to talk about themselves and their goals, an "outgoing" type. Beside, their fruits of labour could be easily seen: a business facility, the number of people work for them, etc... But even with businessmen the successful type also has another group who dont advertise their success, who only themselves know the depths of their achivements.
The path to succeed is not through business alone, or through being business owners alone. The question is what do you want to work in and what do you want to be known for? You want to work in education? You can be a successful board chairwoman of a private school. You want to be famous for your knowledge? You probably should concentrate on teaching and researching/publishing your writings on education.
When you can answer those two questions, you know what path you must take, and what preparations you need. The path are many, and may vary even throughout one person's life. A young one may be interested in being top-dog, but a middle-age may change priorities and want to be known for her personal qualities. Or vice versa, it's not so strange at all.

A good example of what I said is probably Mr Van Nhu Cuong. He's famous for many years as a teacher and author of many math textbooks, which I studied in my Highschool days. later on when private school become possible he opened his private school and become pretty famous as a headmaster with pretty open view on education. Well, 'open' as shown by his various interviews over the years, anyway. Do you think he's successful before he become headmaster of his private school, or not?
