Hi chi Van Anh, I'm very serious about career planning, partly because I have not had good career planning in the past, wasted a lot of time, achived low productivity; and partly because my current job is IT engineer/support and that job should come to max age soon (about 35) now that I'm already 33. So my coming 2 years is important, as a buffer step, to enable a look-different future/carrer after the age of 35. In Vietnam we do know that one of condition/requirement for advancing career is to have higher education degree like Master ... I have already searched for information about Master of IT provided by Vietnam universities but these Master programs don't convince me at all, not just because the course content is either trivial or not related, but also the procedure is complicated unneccessarily, time is long and inefficient ... In short I can't stand Vietnamese Master of IT programs. In IT field, vendor-based international IT certifications are popuplar and enable any-time any-where access and success, and self-study oriented, and also not very expensive; so I choose to follow many IT certification tracks to be certified and prepare for career advancement (like certification from Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, CompTIA, LPI, PMI ...). Specifically say, I want to move to management positions (technical, tech and business in hybrid ...) from my current normal IT engineer/staff. What should I learn and do ? What certification/education I should/must have ? Should I study and try business also (pre-sale, sale ...) ? My certification plan is quite specific for serveral years to come:  getting Cisco CCNP (now I'm studying), LPI LPIC level 1 and 2, CompTIA Security +, ITIL, Project + ... This certification track takes from 2.5 to 3 years, after that, depending on specific conditions I will plan further. All just that, too technical and not very managerial ... That's why I want to have more insights into my career advancement with management as target, and non-stop, even MBA which is now too expensive and not related to me. Nice to exchange ideas with you.
