    Hi Hien Anh,
    I agree that CEO should spend more time internally to increase company’s profit since CEO is responsible for leading and managing the company. Delegating all his/her tasks to subordinates is not the right way. I however don’t agree with the general conclustion that the time CEO spends externally is more beneficial to the CEO him/herself rather than the company. If, for example, CEO spends time to meet with regulators, prospects and partners – it is beneficial to the company as it helps to make connection for business development and gathering information for strategy setting. So the question who are outsiders that CEO should spend time with will define whether it is more beneficial to him/herself or to company.

    The Golden Rules
    Basically, a CEO is leading a group / a company. His / her main focus should be :
    Implement the Biz Plan (mid / Lon term) decided with the shareholders
    Make sure the outbound messages are well understood by potential partners / leads
    Make sure the different level of the company is working on the the same way

    And the biggest challenge for Her/him is to make sure everyone is pleased with Financial Results....

    So, if in a company, someone is wondering what the CEO is doing it means that the CEO fail in doing the key things i listed above.
