If the leader is using his team to lead to a wrong or and ineffective result, he should feel guilty.
And it's will be the shame if the "leader" who achieves only things for himself is merely a selfish person who exploits others totally for his own good.
An effective leader achieves things through his team - things that benefit both himself and his team.

NO. If you're effective, whatever you're doing is working. 'Using' my team? No. Utilizing my team and employing their skills and attributes in a way to guarantee the best outcome. Part of my leadership style is to give credit where it is due and treat my team with consideration. They always know I have their back.

    Nah, just a little lonely.
The question for me implies that "leadership techniques" can actually be manipulative in nature. These can get to people to produce, but in the long term you lose effectiveness. Good techniques do not manipulate and get people to WANT to work, allowing for a feeling of mutual benefit. I've never felt guilty over this approach.

    I have 2 case:
    - If the team get bad result and you are "using" 1 of the team member as the leader (with the objective that that leader should be blamed for the result, NOT you), you should feel guilty. Because no matter what, everything under you is your responsible. Event though you are not directly involve, you lead through that leader, when thing come bad, it's YOU to take the call. This can serve as a very good leadership example.
    - If the team get great result, you should herofy not you but the real leader of that team, make him look good in the eye of your boss, your company and his own team. Never feel that you are using him. We have this sentence:" If you put the perfume on other, some also stick on you"

    Cheers

Not at all. anyone who is not effective should feel guilty. A good leader will benefit the entire team by bring more opportunities for each team player.
Using is important - each team member to their best ability and for the good of the team.
A leader takes people where they need to go, and that isn't a cause for guilt. A leader may even sacrifice the individual needs for a greater good, but since they know it IS for a greater good still will not feel guilty.

If you feel guilty, you are not a manager, you are a friend who feels he is getting more than he gives.

The purpose of Management is to extract profit by delivering result. You deliver result by getting the best of your resources, which includes the brain and strength of your staff.
The CEO use sales team skills at getting new client, engineer to better product, worker to produce more in less time (saving money for bigger profit). If the manager just use the current work/knowledge he would not add value/push for more value to the team or the output/product, no additional profit or product/sales improvement = no increase in salary and benefits possible.
You then should feel guilty not having exploited their talents to give them and families better future, or worse, having to dismiss them... because the competitor is now ahead and has taken all the profits for himself and his team.

You never feel guilty distributing a few month bonus to your staff!
