Men are perfect and without flaw. Only kidding ^_^ It reminds me of a fun song http://youtu.be/ZKEnVOuOOOE

In all seriousness, it is a tough question since it is hard to generalize. In fact all of the things said in response to the other question I have seen men do also. I think a common thread is a poor manager lacks confidence. One of the defined values of my team at work is "Teamwork – Having the self confidence to involve everyone and behaving in a boundless fashion."

The confidence factor is key and leadership requires you to rise to the level where you have no fear -- no fear of sharing, no fear of the future and no fear of being wrong.

Oops, I see that Tam has responded. Sorry Tam, I am not good with Vietnamese names yet...I didn't see your picture. Anyway, I asked this question because someone else asked what are the mistakes that FEMALE leaders make. I found it interesting that no one ever asked what mistakes MALE leaders make.

Hello Susan, I suppose all kinds of mistakes are made by both MALE & FEMALE leaders. It is not the matter of male and female, it is the matter of good and bad leaders. Recently, I have taken part in some seminars as well as read a few articles about Most Common Mistakes Leaders Make. I’m gonna sum up some of the main points for you. Before I’m doing so, you might have interest to read this question asked by Mr.Trung, let’s have a look at it:
    http://www.anphabe.com/discussions/questions-answers/who-do-you-prefer-w...

Here are Most Common Mistakes Leaders Make that I saw, heard, eperienced and read:

    #1. Lack of Trust
I would like to place this as No.1 because I myself experienced it sometimes. In other words, lacking of Empowerment, making others feel unimportant. Many leaders do not put faith in their employees to do their job well although they know that Trust encourages their teams and their people were trained to do the job. In my point of view, this is still a common mistake due to the fear of leaders that no one could do the job better than them. It depends on the scale or type of company, though. Anyways, I believe this is something we can learn to change.

#2. Lack of Well Communicated Vision
Strategic planning is a big part of leaders. However, too often, leaders have a vision that’s not properly expressed to employees, and so the vision is not fulfilled just because employees do not understand how their day-to-day work is. What does the company stand for? Where it is headed in the future or the desired outcome? What are maps to that vision? Without dedicated time to plan and communicate their vision to employees is the second mistake I want to point out. As related to this is No.3.

    #3. Poor Accountability
That is why we need grades to be given at school, cos the measurement like KPI (key performance indicators) is needed to evaluate the metrics they are using to hold their teams and themselves. Number of
sales made, revenue generated, customers satisfied, and leads generated are some of the many possible performance measurements. As you can see, many leaders fail to provide communication and sharing of plans which causes bad results and sadly they blame it on the competence of employees in the end.

#4. Have little focus on building strong teams
Mr.Herbert referred to this already.:) It is also sad that so many leaders place little importance on developing staff. I can understand this because supposing you have trained a talent at your company for a long time and prepare him for a good vacancy in the company but one day, he resigns to enlist in another company (thanks for the headhunters), what will you think?:) It is unacceptable, isn't it?

#5. Not Being Aware of Corporate Culture
First of all, I love traveling.:D Secondly, the culture is a reflection of the leader.:) Creating and maintaining an
organizational culture that is right for the company sometimes failed to do since some leaders do not aware that as a leader, their actions sculpt the culture. And culture is a key component to how work gets accomplished

    #6. Tripping on the Ego
"Leadership guru Jim Collins calls this being “humble with a fierce resolve... It’s not that Level 5 leaders (leaders of the very highest level) have no ego or self interest. Indeed, they are incredibly ambitious-but their ambition is first and foremost for the institution and its greatness, not for themselves.”
