How to help student choose a right major/career when they're in high school ?
In Vietnam, the issue of choosing a wrong career or guessing a major to study in the University/College hasn't been resolved thoroughly. So, what do you think about this ? How to help them choose the right things for them ?

Thanks for having this question in your mind. I am curious what may lead you to this question anyway.
For me, I look at two aspects in terms choosing a career path for the high school student (the issue is vague somehow that really takes a process and a whole structure to go together).
1. Career/Life Coaching for students during their school years. I believe coaching is important for the students to explore and program their own lives systemically. In fact, I plan to start off a non-profit project on coaching for students. If you may have any interests, we can stay connected.
2. The mindset about a 'good' career and how the economy opens up to a wide variety of job markets. I have talked to many high school students. Many of them are quite clear about their passion and what they would love to pursuit. On the other hand, the impact from family (the norm or culture or the mindset about a good career) has got them into a dilemma. Somewhere, there is a sense of insecurity. They may love the job itself but wonder if they could find a career space after graduation and whether it can help them to survive or earn lots of money afterwards. For this matter, it's still a question for me.
So it starts from both of the internal and external sides. My assumption is that as far as we can do well with the coaching curriculum where the students can learn differently to lead their own life. The second concern can be worked out by themselves.

Totally agree with you Tuan Anh. Actually, this issue is not new in Vietnam & everybody is aware of it. But it seems that they don't know what/how to resolve it. I agree with you that the first phase can be resolved. Once the student gets good coaching, then they can easily manage the second phase themselves.
For the first question, how to coach them ? It's quite a tough issue. Our government have been trying to spend so much effort in coaching student during their high school. However, it doesn't bring much values to the students as there is no one who are capable of doing career coaching properly. As a result, the problem still stuck.

I really find this topic very interesting as it is a part of my concerns in general relation to the current education system in VN.

And for the 2nd concern, I think it'll take you so long time to expand your project with possibilities of economic and social developments as well as people's perceptive changes.From my point of view, people may get good earnings in any industry if knowing well how effectively develop knowledge and skills in their selected career. The importance in choosing career is that it really suits to their capabilities and helps pursue passion with assertiveness and further development.
