Thank you all for excellent view but there are another point that come from the employees themselves.
They are networking and researching their competitors and options. They want to know who is on the other team, how smart are they, what is their environment and if applicable, what kind of technology do they use. In other words: are they better? After this information is gathered, your employee will ask themselves ‘will I be happier and more satisfied working on the other side?’
This matter is also a part of my concern.-

Some top companies want their top staff to be hunted and recruited by other companies!
Here are the reasons:
1- your company may be limited to offer higher career and higher pay. Even if they liked to work with you and they are talents: can you let them replace you or open more restaurants or pay them 1000$, 2000$ or more as their ambition and family needs grow?
2- Investment bankers like Goldman sachs, auditing like KPMG and consulting firms like Bain &Co really like the idea that their managers are employed as CEO or CFO (Chief Financial Officer) so that in the future they can continue working with their investment bank or consulting firm, as you treated them well, elevated them and allowed them to get to their dream job. In the case of restaurant, they may recommend clients to you or even younger recruits at lower salaries...Schumpeter, Nobel prize of economics called it "creative destruction"... just imagine keeping your 30 year old chef till age 65, cooking the same thing again and again?
