It is a difficult thing to accomplish.
I had a situation of a wife who worked for me and her husband worked for my peer. My peer would complain to me when the husband took time off from work to care for their child. My response was "it's none of my business how they take time off from work". It was surprising to me that my peer thought he should come to me since it is his employee. I never had a problem with the couple working in the same company but it did cause problems with others.
I currently employ a woman whose husband works in another department. She has been working her in a high profile role for about six months. I have no complaints and so far no one else does either. Her husband's boss is a woman and I wonder if that has something to do with it -- that a woman is more understanding of the situation?
In general though I think unless the couple owns the business then I would recommend that hey not work together.

For individual
No one like being controlled for 24 hour . Another thing that conflict between couple will lead to conflict in the private . In my experiences , wife is marketing director , husband is production manager. you can imagine the hot discussion from meeting , during back home, in dining room and even at the bed . It's a question of maturity.
Some people think close friends or spouses should not work together or it may affect the relationship. The truth is some of the best companies started with best friends and continue to run well today. Of course, there are also many cases where it didn't work out.
It comes back to the maturity of the two individuals. If they are willing to draw healthy boundaries and commit to keep working at the relationship, their relationships could become even stronger and better.
